A historic landmark in Milwaukee was destroyed in a fire early this morning, and authorities say vandals may have started the fire. A historic building in the heart of downtown Milwaukee, the John J. Johns Building, was destroyed by fire Sunday night. Five firefighters were killed and dozens injured as they battled the blaze at the Johns Johns building on the city's north side, the Milwaukee Fire Department said.
Two companies of firefighters were stationed outside Johns Johns Johns when the back wall of the burning building burst out and collapsed without warning. The flames jumped up and then completely destroyed the floor, and the firefighter was trapped in bricks and wood that hit him as he was carried to a floor below.
At a time when it seemed the fire was under control, the building collapsed, leaving only a mass of debris in which several firefighters had to be embedded to contain the small flames on ten other roofs. Firefighters, already submerged in water and covered in ice, repaired one of the destroyed areas and resumed efforts to save property from the devouring elements, but could not repair all.
ServiceMaster Kwik Restore was contacted, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Wisconsin State Patrol were also on the scene for assistance. For more information, contact ServiceMaster's Kikwis Restore at (608) 888-5555.

If fire damage has occurred, there are other factors that can affect your property. We all know that fire disasters can happen in various ways, such as a cooking accident, a car accident or even a house fire. Sometimes these can cause serious damage that can make a house or building unstable. Fire damage to the roof, walls, floors, windows, doors and other parts of the building can occur at any time.
When putting out a fire, first responders can use special chemicals or water to put out the flames. Once the fire has been extinguished, the damage can only be stopped when soot and corrosive byproducts have spread and various surfaces and objects have been soiled.
When this happens, ServiceMaster Kwik Restore can provide comprehensive reconstruction services to rebuild homes and buildings that have suffered extensive damage. In addition to storm damage repair, they are also available for repairing homes and businesses after hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and other natural disasters.
